We hope you will join us for the third concert in our 2019-2020 Community Concert Series! This month we are featuring Tjärnblom, a Scandinavian-style string band featuring a unique blend of nyckelharpa, mandolin, cello and harmonium. They travel a modern “Snoose Boulevard Highway” in a musical journey, playing a repertoire of both old and new Swedish, Finnish, Minnesota and original tunes for dancing and listening. Tjärnblom has performed across the Midwest, and appeared on Minnesota Public Radio’s A Prairie Home Companion show.

The name Tjärnblom is Swedish for “woodland lake flower.”
Members of the band are Cheryl Paschke, nyckelharpa, Joe Alfano, mandolin and guitar, Erin Walsh, cello, and Val Eng, harmonium.

The concert is FREE and open to all, with a free-will offering to benefit Pratt Community School (across the street from Prospect Park UMC!) 100% of the proceeds will benefit Pratt.

PPUMC is located mere blocks from the green line (Prospect Park station). Parking is available on street and at Pratt Community School. A dessert buffet will be available after the concert.

Hello Beloved! Wow what a week! We had a nice, sl Hello Beloved! Wow what a week!

We had a nice, slightly brisk, Easter Sunrise Service. There were a couple minutes before the service started when the predawn sky was quite simply spectacular (see image below). And we had a lovely Easter Worship Service in the Sanctuary. With Easter being last Sunday that means that this Sunday is our last Sunday in the Gospel of Luke! We’ve been in Luke for four full months, and what a journey it's been. This week we’ll take a look at the famous “Walk to Emmaus” and how things come full circle. I hope you can join us whether in the pews or online!

As I’m sure you’ve heard, last Monday Pope Francis passed away. In my studies of world/church history, I have tremendous issues with The Papacy, but in the grand scheme of things, Pope Francis was a pretty darned good one, particularly in regards to LGBTQ+ Roman Catholics. I encourage you to simply pass on condolences to your Catholic friends, as the loss of a Pope is a time of communal but sometimes also personal loss and grief.

Peace,
Pastor Paul
