On Saturday, September 20 at 7:00pm we welcome back Pad the Road as our first performance in the 2025-26 season of the Community Concert Series!
‘Pad the Road with Me’ is an old Scottish ballad involving coming together and spending time walking or ‘padding’ the road together creating a little craic. We perform Celtic music from around the Irish Sea (Ireland, Scotland, England, Wales) and other folk music at various events around the Minneapolis/Saint Paul area.
Formed in 2022, vocalists and multi-instrumentalists Alex Aavang (whistle, uilleann pipes), Danielle Hantla (fiddle, spoons), Mark Hantla (mandolin, bouzouki), and Justin O’Carrick (guitar, hammered dulcimer, bodhrán) play rousing pub songs and traditional tunes that lift the soul and move the feet. Come ‘Pad the Road’ with us!
The concert is FREE to attend, with 100% of proceeds from a freewill offering benefiting The Aliveness Project.
The Aliveness Project supports people living with and at the greatest risk of HIV through transformative resources and direct services. Their services include food and nutrition, support, case management and housing help, PrEP and PEP, HIV testing, and support groups.
The Aliveness Project was founded in 1985 by a group of community members living with HIV who wanted to celebrate simply being ALIVE. They gathered with their loved ones for potlucks where they could unite over food and foster healing in those devastating early days of the HIV epidemic. Modern treatments allow people living with HIV to live long, healthy lives, but HIV still carries some stigma and barriers — so the spirit of fellowship and joy that we were born with remains critical.
