Sunday Musicians Needed! - May 18th through Labor Day Weekend

Once again, opportunities abound for you (yes, YOU!) to share your musical talents as part of our summer worship. Dance, poetry reading or drama would work, as well. All ages, instruments, and ability levels are welcome! Do you have any idea how blessed we are to have so many willing and able volunteers?? Makes the coordinator job much easier -- no begging required. But you still need to sign up!

May 11th is the choir's last Sunday before their summer break, so the Special Music slot is available anytime after that. Roberta will be here through the end of June, so for July and August we will also need someone to play the hymns and provide a prelude, postlude and offertory -- sign up for one or for all.

Note that beginning June 8th, we will be worshipping downstairs in Fellowship Hall as work begins on the sanctuary, but the piano will be moved downstairs for us to use.

Call or email Laura Dillon (612-729-6504 or dlaura1@usiwireless.com) to sign up. Contact her soon if you have a specific Sunday in mind!

ADULT SPIRITUALITY RETREAT

  • THEME: “Sacred Earth--From Farm Fields to Urban Tables”
  • TIME: Friday Eve., May 16--Sunday early afternoon, May 18th
  • PLACE: Shalom Hill Farm, near Windom, MN (www.shalomhillfarm.org)
  • COST: $90 per person, scholarships available, and let’s carpool (share gas $)

Last year our spiritual element was water.  This year our spiritual element is earth.  Last year we sang, shared and played with the ritual-waters of Holy Baptism.  This year, we will sing, share and play with the bread of life, shared in Holy Communion.  Shalom Hill Farm, built into the prairie landscape of southwestern Minnesota, will be a great place to reflect on the connections between healthy soil and healthy food, fields and tables, rural communities and cities, agriculture and spirituality, God of the Earth and our lives.  Bring musical instruments, artistic materials, journal, or whatever you need to nourish your spirituality.  We will have individual rooms, gardens to explore, bread to bake, music to sing, hearts to fill, and Margaret Yackel-Juleen, one of the founders of Shalom Hill farm, will share the retreat-center-vision with us.  Please sign-up with Pastor Nancy, deposits of $45 (or the whole amount) will reserve your place.
