Lent begins with the Ash Wednesday service on February 6th and ends on Easter Sunday, March 23rd. There are lots of ways you can be involved in Lenten and Easter activities at PPUMC!

Lenten Devotional:

Lenten Devotionals have been mailed. Please contact the church office if you haven't received your's.

Wednesday Evening Christian Education & Dinners:

Our Wednesday Lenten activities will start with Ash Wednesday, February 6th. We will have a light dinner at 6:00 pm, followed by the Ash Wednesday service at 6:30 pm. This year the worship service will take place in our newly renovated balcony space! As a part of the service, led by Pastor Nancy, we will be making clay pots. Youth will play games or do arts and crafts after making pots.

On the 5 Wednesdays between Ash Wednesday and Easter, we will again gather for a light supper at 6:00 pm, followed by intergenerational activities after dinner. The confirmation group will be meeting, we will be getting ready to perform a play, and there will be other activities for the youngest children. Adults who would like to work with the younger children, or who would like to help lead the play are invited to contact Nancy Kristensen. Anyone who would like to help prepare the meals should talk with Liz Richards. You may also call the church office to volunteer to help.

Palm Sunday, March 17th: Service with palms & music at 9:30 am

Holy Week activities:

Maundy Thursday, March 20th, 7:00 pm: Join Emily Jarrett Hughes, Laura Dillon, and the Worship Playshop friends for Holy Communion and The Round Dance of the Cross. Experience the celebration and tenderness that Jesus shared with his disciples the day before he died in our danced Maundy Thursday worship service. We will remember this day with a service that engages all the senses: tasting bread and juice, anointing with oil, dancing to live and recorded music, and witnessing the beauty of our church. A central part of our worship will be the "Round Dance of the Cross," inspired by one of the Gnostic gospels, with original music by Laura and developed by Worship Playshop.

Good Friday Silent Meditation, 5:30-7:00 pm: Join us in silent meditation in the balcony, with candles, beautiful photographs, clay vessels and scripture readings. Come and go as you need.

Saturday, March 22nd: Easter Egg party at 9:00 am. Help decorate Easter eggs for the Easter breakfast.

Easter Sunday, March 23rd:

• Easter Sunrise Service - On the top of Tower Hill, 7:00 am
• Easter Morning Breakfast - Fellowship Hall after the Sunrise Service
• Easter Service of Celebration - 9:30 am
