Racial Justice Book Club (Session 1)

The PPUMC Book Club will be meeting in two weekly sessions.
The times and dates selected by our survey:
Sunday afternoons at 1:00 pm, beginning July 12, and
Thursday evenings at 7:00 pm, beginning July 16.
We plan to meet for 8 weeks, reading 2 chapters a week.
Read in advance whenever possible.

We will discuss important and sometimes challenging ideas. We are coming together with the understanding that we need to learn, and to be gentle with one another and with ourselves. We, the organizers, plan for this to be a safe space for questions, learning, and growth. Come with an open heart, a willingness to listen, and kindness on your lips. “A Good Time for the Truth: Race in Minnesota”, is edited by Sun Yung Shin. We are hoping that every person in our community reads this book and then recommends it to a friend – whether or not you join in the book club.

“A Good Time for the Truth” centers around conversations about racial disparities in Minnesota through essays written by Native American writers and writers of color. You can purchase a physical copy at booksellers such as Magers & Quinn and online via the MN Historical Society. This book is also currently available for reading FREE over the next two months at Ebooks MN.
