About the Series:
PPUMC
is pleased to sponsor a community concert series, with concerts monthly
from September of 2011 through May of 2012. The concerts are
free
and open to the public. Children are
welcome. A
free-will offering will be taken at each concert with 100% of the
proceeds going to the cause listed for each concert. Some
information about the concerts can be found below. Please check
this page for information updates as concert dates approach!

Pig's Eye Jass Band
- Brief:
The Pig's Eye Jass Band plays the earliest and purest form of jazz,
often known as traditional jazz and/or Dixieland jazz.

The band has played for over 50 years in many venues, including jazz
festivals, riverboats, nightclubs, concerts, weddings, funerals and
church services. The band is devoted to the original style of
jazz, uniquely American, and perhaps the most exciting and moving music
ever. They feature music by King Oliver, Jelly Roll Morton, Sidney
Bechet, Louis Armstrong, Ma Rainey and Bessie Smith among others.
People of all ages enjoy the driving beat and inspiring vocals and
solos of the band.

A variety show and pie social put on by the
Prospect Park United Methodist Church community.

for PPUMC! The cost is $6 for adults, $3 for
children under 10, with a maximum per family of $20. Your

entitles you to a great evening of fun and varied performances, plus a
slice of PIE with (or without) ice cream!

little blues, a little salsa, a little folk, a little
rock'n'roll, a LOT of fun! Shout! is the house band at Lake
Harriet UMC, and for the past ten years they've made beautiful, wild,
sweet, hope-filled music together every week. Twelve
musicians,
percussionists, instrumentalists, and singers ... all members or
friends of LHUMC. Come, listen, dance, and join in the
music-making with us at PPUMC!

Info: The
Elk River German Band features the Bavarian style of German music. The
band was formed about twenty-eight years ago when several musicians
assembled to play for a community function. Since then the band has
grown to its present size of ten musicians including nine
instrumentalists and a female vocalist.
