General Announcements & Other Events

Announcements & Prospectus Items:

To include your announcement in the next week's Weekly Announcement, please email it to announceppumc@gmail.com and it will be put in a Sunday flyer/bulletin for those in worship. It must be in by the end of day Wednesday.  Those entries that are relevant for the next Prospectus will also be put in the Prospectus automatically.  The Prospectus deadline is the 15th of each month. The hope is that anyone, with one simple e-mail, can make an announcement that will reach all forms of communication within the church community - and that those forms are updated weekly.  Enjoy!

Whole Farm Coop:  We are lucky to have Whole Farm Coop deliver right to our door once a month on the third Wednesday. Your order must be placed by the second Wednesday of the month for delivery the following week, unless otherwise noted. For a complete food list or to place your order, call 320-732-3023, or go online at http://www.wholefarmcoop.com.

Next Whole Farm order due date: Wednesday, February 8th
Next Whole Farm delivery date: Wednesday, February 15th

Shalom Church Events:

Check the Shalom Church page for a list of churches in the Shalom fellowship and a link to the Shalom Church Web site.

Tres Iglesias - Habitat for Humanity:

Tres Iglesias (Cabrini, St Cecilia, PPUMC) needs Habitat for Humanity volunteers January 20-21, 2012 (Friday & Saturday).  This winter we will work on a Habitat project for those two days - a group of townhomes in NE Minneapolis.  We need 15-18 workers for each day.  All work will be indoors.  You'll find details at http://cabrinimin.org/habitat.  Please sign up by January 15th.  Questions? - As Patsy Olsen, 651-699-1428 or Steve Kerrigan, 612-788-6892.

Taizé Worship Opportunities:

Continuing throughout 2011, St. Frances Cabrini Church and Prospect Park UMC will host an ecumenical series of worship opportunities in the spirit of Taize worship.  Generally, taize prayer is considered a meditative prayer held in common. Gathered in the presence of Christ, uncomplicated, repetitive songs, uncluttered by too many words are sung, allowing an encounter with the mystery of God through the beauty of simplicity. A few words sung over and over again enhance the meditative quality of prayer.  Dates will be announced in the Prospectus, Weekly Announcements, and will be posted on the Calendar or Worship Web pages.

Congregational Care Team:

One of the important ministries for any church community involves taking the time to visit and connect with folks who are homebound or in a hospital.  The Congregational Care Team draws from an informal group of people who are interested in spending time with folks who are lonely or in need of a comforting word.

Basic areas of this developing care team ministry include: card ministries, phone ministries, visiting ministries, and meal coordination ministries. If you are interested in helping out with any of these caring needs or would like to be a part of the planning process, contact the church office (612-378-2380 or send email to  ProspectParkUMC@gmail.com).

Fellowship Time after Church:

People are talking about our fellowship time after services!  Volunteers are needed each week to make coffee, help provide "light" treats, and clean up. If you are willing and able to help in this capacity, please sign up for a Sunday - the sign up sheet is posted on the Announcement Bulletin Board just past the coffee machine in our Fellowship Hall.

Using Church Facilities:

Reserve space for your events!  The 2012 calendar is posted on the wall in the Crying Room.  Please be aware that to reserve a space, you need to have confirmation from the church office.  Events written on the calendar without talking to Elinor can not be guaranteed a space.  Please be respectful of all of our community members who also use the space.  Thanks!

  • U.S. Disaster Response Fund - UMCOR Advance #901670
  • Haiti Emergency Relief Fund - UMCOR Advance #418325
  • Hurricane Relief Fund - UMCOR Advance #982450
Make your check out to UMCOR and specify the Relief fund # on the memo line. If sending money for the Hurricane Relief Fund, also designate whether your donation should go to help people in the Bahamas, the Turks and Caicos, Cuba, or Haiti.  Please consider a gift to UMCOR International Disaster Relief.

The Bookstore is open for business:

Donate good, used books and help provide a source of reading material and a source of financial support for the Pastor's Discretionary Fund. Our ongoing book sale is located on the book shelves in the choir room. Income from the book sales is used for gas, food cards, and other discretionary giving. Barb B has volunteered to be our new "book keeper." She will collect and deposit money, dispose of books that have been on the shelves too long, answer questions, and general keep the shelves in order.
