[PPUMC Homepage] [Back to Christian Education] Adult Ed in May May 4 - Banners Across America The National Religious Campaign Against Tortue has made the month of June "Banners Across America" month, asking congregations across the country to join in a public witness against torture by displaying a banner outside their place of worship. The Social Justice Committee would like for our church to be a part of this, and we will need everyone's input! We will have a guest speaker from the Center for Victims of Torture join us for Adult Ed on May 4th. Her name is Sigrid Bachman and she lives in Prospect Park; she and her family were refugees from Germany. She will present some basic information about torture, then we will have a time of discussion around what we would like our banner to look like. We will plan a time to meet to make the banner, which will hang outside the church. Please join us in this important witness. |
